dynamat or B-quite

I can't believe the actual costs just to have a good sounding system in your ride. Absolutely insane...
What benefits would this stuff give me in the trunk with just (2) 300WRMS subs? Is this the stuff you guys use so you don't crack windows on your mega systems? :P

i'd avoid dynamat like the plague. it's overpriced and anyone who says it's better just flat out has no experiences with other brands.
not that it hasn't already been said, there are far better products for the money.
rammat or b-quiet are my preferences. never used second skin.

Sound deadening decreases noise levels in your car from outside sources. It also adds mass to your metal panels to decrease their resonant frequency to levels that won't add distortion or cancellation in your speakers. You will notice cleaner and more powerful bass, and midbass. Anybody who is serious about SQ knows this is money well spent.

Honestly, man, just install it yourself. Get a small, wooden roller - it helps. But in a pinch, the end of a screwdriver works too.
I'm no expert here; by no means. I used to be somewhat into car audio and on this board a lot a few years ago. Now I just check in now and then, as I've discovered motorcycles.
But over the past years, I've done 4 installs for myself, each time learning new things and trying new things. This latest one was the first one where I used B-Quiet (I can't comment on it's effectiveness compared to other brands).
Basically, when I was heavy into this stuff, I went for a group buy offered on this site for (I think) 150-200sq. feet of the stuff. I bought it for somewhere under 200$. Anyway, it sat in the basement of my two houses for 5 years. Just this fall I did the install, and deadened the trunk with 2 layers (in most places, in some, just one layer), and did the back deck (upper and lower sides) in my civic sedan.
I CAN tell you that now I realize what a HUGE diff it makes, compared to installs without it. When the time comes for the next car, I can't go back to no deadening. I can't beleive the difference -- everything is so clear. I think that way back on previous installs, even when I thought there was only a bit of vibes in the car, there was a ton; and I wasn't really able to appreciate every possible detail of my music (I love the complexities of a rock band's sounds). Now, I'm discovering new parts of my older albums I never noticed before.
Shame that group buy isn't around anymore ...
But in any event, if you love your sound quality, I'd deaden the car. Trunk, rear deck and doors.
