"dynamat extreme extremely overrated"
Hey guys,
I just installed the "dynamat extreme door kit" last weekend in the 2 front doors of my car. It is the kit that covers the entire door. It was sunny outside and the temperature was about 22. I layed the dynamat on my hood for about a half hour before starting. The doors were clean when i began.I spent approx. 3 hours doing each door covering all the holes and taking out all the hardware off the doors to get maximum coverage.
I recall seeing all the hype about increased sound pressure, reducing road noise and increased mid bass.Could this be true? The end result. I could notice a very small improvement overall. But no where what dynamat states.I noticed a bigger difference when i went from a 1/4" mdf baffle for my mids and tweets to a 3/4 " mdf baffle. total cost $4. Maybe i should start making baffles and sell them for $100. At least people would see "noticable results"Anyone out there have a similar experience with dynamat?

I'd have to say that I had the opposite effect. I've always installed my speakers listened to them, then removed them and installed Dynamat Extreme (3 vehicles now) and every one of them it improved mid bass, seemed to rise the sound stage, and definitely brought out more detail. Not to mention removing ALOT of outside road noise.

Awwww .... I always do. I usually strap some across the rib for the outer skin also. And use a roller and your thumbs. They work best!!

Yeah, I'll try doing that. Thats what i meant actually. Across the rib-outer skin. I could see this working well enough to hear a noticable difference. I only have enough dynamat left over to do about a 12" diameter behind each 6" front woofer. The dynamat will be approx. 5" behind the magnet. I will do this on saturday and post the results. Hopefully i like what i hear.

when i did my doors last summer i did both the outer skin (full coverage) and the inner (full coverage). i used brown bread and the difference was nite and day. road noise was almost completely gone and the mid bass was/is mad.. getting my Arc amp this weekend (hopefully) and will have my cdt's powered finally then i will have crazy mid bass. cant wait to finally hear those es06+ mid/subs..
i say do the outer skin if you still can!!

I've done my doors - and the result is obvious. Not much of the raod noise kill, but greatly improved mid bass. And yes, you have to apply some of this stuff right behind the magnet... Didn't you dynamated the interior of the door?
