eclipse cd8445 install tips?

i just received this cd8445 and i have to say that it is the most complex h/u i have every owned, including the 200 page owners manual. to anyone experienced with eclipse have any tips to install this unit? for example is it better to unlock the deck with the cd key or memory stick? i imagine that the cd and stick are in the deck since i didn`t see them in the package.

I am not farmiliar with that unit,
you pick a cd of your choice to use as a 'key' to unlock the HU, so it reads that cd, and uses it as the password so to speak..

yes it can be any cd.. and a FYI, if you use a retail cd, a burned copy of it will work too, this can be a good thing and a bad thing I suppose. as long as it's an exact copy that is.

you don't have to hook up the dimmer wire... I never have... I don't know what box you're talking about, got a pic?

I didn't know that eclipse did that little metal box thing. I have a metal box on a cable on my alpine. It says DC/DC Converter in the manual. I've heard different stories. One says it's a regulator they forgot to include in the design, the other story is they had to put it outside the HU because of electrical interference.

my gf's old 9855 had one of those too, but from what he dexcribed, it doesn't sound like a DC/DC convertor...

i`ll take a pic of it tomorrow. the maunal says nothing about it (although i haven`t read all 200 pages). it shows it in the wiring diagram, but gives no description. strange...........
