i just installed my cd8445. i figured i would have to boot it up with the key cd before it turned on but it came on. is this normal? can i leave to the esn off or should i enable it?

 

You can leave it off but it is in your best interest to code the unit with a new key cd. Make it a store bought cd that you will never listen to or keep in the car.

 

make sure you register it with eclipse that way if you you can't get it to turn on or it won't take the cd code you can call eclipse and they will give you an unlock code over the phone. I had a customer who had an eclipse with the esn feature, battery died and when the customer put in the esn cd it wouldn't work. i called eclipse and gave them the id code displayed on the faceplate of the deck and from that they could tell me that it was not registered with eclipse and the customer would have to find his reciept mail or fax it in and then they would give him an unlock code for the deck.
