Eclipse SW7000 & Pioneer GM7200M - Enough Power?
Eclipse SW7000 & Pioneer GM7200M - Enough Power?
I have an SW7000 10" Eclipse in a sealed box and a Pioneer GM-7200M with the following specs:
Sub:
fs-35hz
Qts:0.58
DCR: Dual 4ohm
RMS:450W
Max Power Handling: 1300W
Amp:
RMS Power Output (Watts x Channels) 250 x 1
Frequency Response 20-240 Hz
THD at Rated RMS Power 0.5%
Signal to Noise Ratio 100 dB
Input Voltage 14.4v
Peak Power Output (Watts x Channels) 500 x 1
Power at 2 Ohms (Watts x Channels) 360 x 1
Bridged Power (Watts x Channels) N/A
Minimum Impedance Bridged N/A
Minimum Impedance Unbridged 2
Just looking for some input - if the amp isn't enough I will sell this one and get another.

your giving it a little over half the rms for the sub... thats good enough, since its alredy a great driver on its own, if you were to purchase an amp that gives it 450rms, you prob wouldn't see that much of an increase..
The pioneer will not put the sub to its full capabilities. In my experience that pioneer amp doesn't give as much power as they state, But then again i was comparing it to a smaller kicker amp which is known for quality. That amp will give you a good bump, but will will be under powering the sub.
Thanks for the input - I found out the hard way with this one. Ordered and paid for the amp already. BUT to those who are interested I have posted the item in the for sale section. $150.00. Since I don't have it yet, I would ship when I receive the product. Need something more to power this sub.
I'm not wasting more money - I am going to sell this amp and buy another.
Besides, I might change my setup in the next year so a more powerful amp would probably work best anyways. Then I don't have to dial the amp to push the sub.

True !.. Its good to think ahead when designing a system, I'm powering my sub with a 4 channel amp, So I can use it later on different things. Thanks Rob

My friend used to own a local shop and when it closed he inherited a lot of stuff so he has two 10" SW7000's. He is trying to convince me to get them now, but really I only want one right now. BUT, we're gonna work on the amp. I was fortunate enough to be able to cancel the order today.
Thanks for the input - I will let you know how things turn out.
