I my opinion, any amp that you need to take apart to change the crossover frequency isn't worth the trouble, especially when you can only use predetermined (albeit common) frequencies. I'd take the Eclipse over the Xtant any day, even though both are really really quirky.

Let me explain something really small but important. A chip is WAY more accurate and reliable then a variable pot ever will be. A chip can't get worn over time or have dust collect inside.

And they are quirky cause .......................they don't do 1ohm ???

You are correct, they are actually better. Not to mention the same engineering still work for Mitek and Xtant. A little trivia for you, before Mitek bought Xtant (Mitek was responsible for a good amount of the capital to start Xtant by the way) The 4 channel amps boards were made in a MTX factory.

As for the new X series amps, I believe they still use the same circutry and design of the older X and IX series amplifiers.. Just a different cover. It looks like you can actually plop an older x series cover on it, if you don't like the hexagon style cover
Is that a bad thing ? The covers would not bolt down to the older amps. In fact the I and IX are VERY different from the X Series. The I series was the very first one from Xtant along with the C series.

Mind if I ask who you have heard from ? An amp purchase is not something I would strictly base one someone "internet" beliefs.......

The Mitek ones are better then they have ever been..........

OMG another pixie, I sell both brands and have had failures on both brands. Both are very good american built amplifiers, some people like the styling of one over the other. Xtant has a 4year warranty in Canada, Eclipse has one. Any amp that has been fixed scares me, matter of fact we just installed this same Eclipse amp that you are looking at for a customer. It blew after 2 weeks, he bought it off of e-bay. He wants it warrantied by us, I don't think so, we did not sell it to him, nor blow it for him. After removal from the vehicle and looking at the back of the amp, the thing had 3 repair stickers on it already. Both of these amps are great amplifiers, yes a repaired anything scares me, but I have seen I don't know how many customers never come back with a repaired item either. I personally use X-tant. My next choice was Eclipse.

You saw that pixie too ??

I would go so far as to say that more then just both those brands break.

Everything breaks.......just one brand that I sell seems to break more then most and I won't mention it's name
