You can have them but they will be the same ones I have on our website.

Please do, high res is best, unwatermarked. We will be implementing a proper html front page to atleast host some of the images and link to them even if just in a thread.

Let me know...

So if we hold a series of shows that is Branded by one of our lines promoting the series are a set of our dealers, there would be no problem to sticky the post as long as we provide you with 100 images? Can we mail you a cd?

Hey Mark... well, i guess with each case it’ll be different.
There was an outcry that these events charging money were in fact not making any and that by charging people to advertise their event it would effectively kill the scene etc etc.

The area that becomes clouded is at which point who is a 'yes' and who is a 'no'.

If alpine or pioneer are sponsoring an event, then the person hosting and posting should pay.

I guess at the end of the day its about my discretion. There have been no shortage of people trying to "work" the rules in their favor and yesterday we seen another void member removed.

Our rates right at this moment are $50 / month, minimum 3 months. Cash discounted. When our media kit is released all 'new' vendors will see an increase in pricing while current vendors will be offered the same pricing. Being a vendor eliminates a lot of these grey areas, but again from what im being told is that most of the shops out there cant afford the advertising costs ive implemented.

Now again, this event posting for pictures is purely in a test session. At some point im going to either go with it or can it.

I know this is a long run on post, but i get the same questions daily and its easier to address it all here.

That being said, coles notes:
If Brand (alpine) is hosting an event or sponsoring at your shop to promote their product line then the person posting it here will need to pay. This is based on the fact that they’re inviting people to the show to seeing the marketing by the Brand and to sell more products……

i just re-read this again. and i cant fathom having 100 pictures when i dont even own a camera. i have been and hosted about 20 shows in the past 2 years and have attended about 50-60 shows. yet i have only taken 3 pictures myself. usually i am running the event and do not take pics. I have people that take pics of me and of our shows and then post/host pics for me on thier sites....but you have banned those persons from this site. how do we get you pics that we do not have?

knowing this .....can we still post our events on your site. there are only 2 event promoters in western canada and that is us (Team Shadow for Iasca) and Westec (for usaci). there is now no other. Rick, please advice if this is going to be a problem or can we continue to post event/show info?

My compromise was commercial event listings for images in return, otherwise you will have to pay.

As for those who are banned, you didn’t mention anyone specifically but ive only "banned" aprox 3 people from this site.

Not to butt in here but...

Pat - You run around with a crew of people, they must own cameras. (incidentally, how can you not own a $99 digital camera?) Get 5 people to take 20 photos each. done.

As for getting them to Rick - you appear to have a computer. Have those same 5 people email their pics to you and you email them to Rick. Ryan doesn't have to do it for you.

This should be a non-problem

Dukk, its just easier to do nothing other than to post your event... i mean, lets not beat around the bush here... people want something for nothing in this day and age.

Personally, i think the best way to handle this is to just not allow people to post the event unless they’re paying vendors/clubs. The compromise is obviously not good enough here.

I will have my decision made by Sunday night regarding event postings. My feeling is this. These events are being held at some shop. Get the shop to pay $50 to advertise the event. They’re getting users to their shop and getting known....

But people don’t see that...
oh well, anyways...

Itll either be

a) be a paying vendor to post
b) stay the way it is, pay to post or submit images.

I am def. more swayed in canning it and unless they’re a paying vendor, then sorry. But again, i will discuss it with the other own and have a decision made by Sunday night.

Hi Team Shadow,

On our other website which has twice the amount of users, and I personally know 20-25 shops, we did not offer this deal.

You know why?

Because we wanted to give a break to the Black Void members on this forum. We thought Black Void was a neat idea. We thought if the Black Void users got some exposure it would be good. We set a price, you guys moaned and complained. We came to terms with trying to support you and work with you for free. All we asked was a little help to give back to the community.

Instead of help Rick got excuses and bullshit.

I believe you should take a dictionary and look up marketing. You see the way the world works, is that if you have advertising, more and more people come to your shows. With this opportunity you could have had free exposure for what I would call a target audience.

You know when you advertise in a magazine, you get a general readership, whereas when you advertise here you get a pre-screened audience that is already interested in the subject, or else they would not be here.

So when you come up with all these different excuses as to why you are not able to take pictures I begin to wonder.

Am I being played?

Last time I checked digital images did not take money to develop. I'm not sure what kind of crowd you keep, but if nobody in that crowd is so technologically advanced to have a camera I'm not sure I'd want to see what their cars look like...

The point about your buddies being banned. Well if they're your buddies I'm sure they will have no problem supporting you if these shows are so important to you. Even if it means they have to e-mail the pictures or upload them to an FTP.

So...

I don't need your pictures, but in return we will remove all your posts relating to your events.

Fair is fair.

End of story.

I think your motives, whatever they may be. To advertise for free or to get your banned fellows unbanned are getting the better of you.

Basically you have to get your hands around the idea that there are rules, and in this instance Rick and I make the rules.

And it is your job Team Shadow, to follow such rules, or join your 3 other buddies.

I hope I am extremely clear in getting my point across.

I'm leaving the country for the weekend, but when I return to my office Monday I'd like not to start the week dealing with you.

Ciao

xXx
