I have kept my audio system intact from the warmer months up until now. I remember last year that my tinsel leads snapped because I played the woofers too hard before letting them 'warm' up. Does anyone here remove their gear for the winter, or do you keep it in? What precautions to take?

If the tinsel leads snapped, it wasn't because of the cold, if anything because they were too short, and didn't have enough flex for the excursion your woofer went through.
Defects such as short, or mis-aligned tinsel leads is one reason why many speakers fail. QC isn't what it used to be.

A winter system, eh? Sounds like an intresting concept, maybe something like a marine system, to compensate for the condensation caused by heat and cold . How about studded woofers, to bite into that thin winter air?

I just run my system low during the really cold weather (Below -5) because plastic gets fragile / rubber/neopreme becomes stiff. If i have the urge to run my system to its potential i warm the car and gradually increase the volume.

This is a good idea for a new thread.., But may as well keep this going.
Question; Considering some of the space age materials used in todays speakers etc.., are they capable of withstanding our extreme weather conditions, in conjuction to the way being used?
Which materials can do better?

and I'll need something to go with the salt&lemon, like Tequila.

Every witer this is asked. Every winter this is answered.

It was -15 to -25 for a week here recently. No problems whatsoever with any of my equipment.

I have never ever once heard of anyone actually having cold related problems.

Since the mid 80's I have had all my equipment all year round and I have never blown a sub, fried an amp or damaged a head unit. I am not saying that climate does not affect your equipment, just that you have to use your brain a little and not expect that you can just jump into a car when it's -40c and start pounding the bass. let the car warm up and the equipment too.
