Factory speaker dimensions 1991 Mustang 5.0l Convertible
#1
Hey guys and gals, hoping someone can help me with an install related question. I have been without a system for some time in my vehicle and I'm assembling car audio components for my vehicle. I have factory locations in the dash, the doors, and the rear side panels of the vehicle. If I can recall correctly, the dash speakers are 3.5", the doors are 5.25", and the rears are 4*6". Has anyone installed a car audio system in a FOX body convertible! I'm curious to see whether or not I can easily fit 6.5" component speakers in the doors without cutting any metal? Any experience from forum members would be greatly appreciated. I plan on adding a sub sometime in the future as I'm extremely limited with trunk space so if anyone has any suggestions on a good proven sound quality setup it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Hey, the dash is 3.5", and I thought the doors were 5.25" so that's what I ordered for my car, but when I went to put in the speaker it ended up being a 6.5" hole, but I just made the 5.25's fit in there. Just take off a door panel and measure it to be safe before you order, it's only 3 screws and 2 bolts.
Oh, and about components, I got a set of JL VR's for the front, and they stick out a tad because of the depth... but I made them fit... barely. If you get 6.5's, you may need to get custom kick panels made.
