Factory Speaker noise problem
#1
Hey everyone, my girlfriend took delivery of a brand new Saturn Ion Quad Coupe a few weeks ago....
She noticed the other day that some songs, at this point Bring me to life by Evanescence and Addicted by Simple Plan...Anyway, at low volumes, there is a crackling/distortion type of noise from the rear speakers..the car just has the standard speaker package, 6's all the way around...
Any idea as to what the issue may be? I don't think they are blown because if you turn the volume up the noise goes away and it isn't on every song....
Thanks!!

SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE IN QUITE A PICKLE THERE ANTHONY! NOT TO WORRY THOUGH.....I'M A MASTER INSTALLER SINCE 1984. HERE IS WHAT WE NEED TO DO FOR YOU ANTHONY......FIRST OFF...
1. OHM THEM SPEAKERS
B. CHECK FOR ANY LOOSE PARTICLES OR SUCH THAT MAY BE INADVERTINTILY TAPPING THE SPEAKER OR SPEAKERS INVOLVED.
1. METER THEM SPEAKERS FOR POWER (ARE THEY A GETTIN' THE RIGHT CURRENT??, WHAT ABOUT AMPS? CHECK THEM TOO.
R. REPEAT STEPS A THROUGH 4 AS NECESSARY TO LOCATE PROBLEM.
B. IDENTIFY THE SPEAKER OR SPEAKERS INVOLVED.
3. REPLACE AS NECESSARY
HOPE THIS HELPS...I AM A MODERATOR ON THIS FORUM SO I WON'T DEAL WITH POOPY ANSWERS.
I WILL NOT BE SMITTEN ANTHONY.

If you find out the cause Andrew I'd appreciate you sharing. I have the same problem in my 2002 Golf. It seems that only on certain rock songs the passenger side factory tweeter makes a distorted noise. On all other music there is no problem.
So please update us with the identified problem.
Thanks.
