Few Noob Questions

I recently got my license and Im driving mommies car, yay. Anyways Im too g'in to use stock audio and I was wondering what exactly I need to wire up a 12" or maybe a 15" sub that Id be picking up used into an 06 Civic Coupe. What am I going to need, could I do it myself, and how much approx will it cost?

Thanks,

Neil

You will need power/ground wire, RCA cables, an LOC if you are using the stock deck, an amplifier, and a subwoofer w/ enclosure.

Setups usually run you $500 and up.

What is LOC? And will there be any complications using the stock deck?

Line Out Converter

It basically makes up for the fact that your stock deck will not have RCA outputs, and the only problem you may have is lack of control over the system. An aftermarket deck has more features and thing such as built-in crossovers.

since it's mom's car...go to a shop! You don't want to be experimenting on the old lady's wheels...cause when she can't get to work...you don't get to eat!!

Haha, I was considering a shop. Im in Halifax, NS. The only place I know of is Halifax Car Audio or something like that. How much do you think the labour would cost? Like $100?

somewhere around there...install amp and run an loc should not be much more. I think Best buy and Future shop charge about 75 for that service, but I may be mistaken as I don't pay for install. If you bought everything from them, they might even give you a deal on the install!! Go talk to them...they might even have good used equipment or old stock brand new that could be cheaper or the same price as the used stuff you're looking at.

And mommy will not like her trunk full of subwoofer either. Think of perhaps a 10" or 12" sub Jr.
