Fiberglass Design for 2 10" sxs, how to figoure cubic feet? and what port
Hey guys ive been surfing for awhile here and im gonna build a fiberglass box to hold 2-10" RE audio Sxs and i wouldnt mind doing a amp rack built into the box also but im having a hard time figuring how to design the fiberglass to get the right internal volume, But i want about 2.5 - 3.0 Cubic feet tuned to around 35-36 hertz and i plan on using some aero ports! any one have any ideas on how to??? thanks, alot jeremy
o and my max Dimensions are
-33 wide
-16 high
-15-20 deep depending on hieght
but i wanna keep room between the trunk and the cab of the car so air passes through?

you could build it but before you resin it up you could fill it with packing chips. Take those chips out put them in a cardboard box then you can measure the exact internal volume of the box. If its not resined you can always just take it apart and tweek it till you get what you want.

ya true but i kinda wanna amke it a one deal if possbile lol. if i make it around 2.5 - 3 cubes what length and size aero ports do i need? also how much louder you think the 2 sx 10s getting 1000rms a peice tuned to around 35-36 hertz will compare to my XXX 12 off 2000 tuned to 33-34? im hoping the 2 10s are noticabely louder

they may not be louder. it depends on the box too. your changing the tuning frequncy as well it will change eveything. When you say fiberglass boxes do you mean a pod box with 2.5cu ft each or a dual conventional box with 2.5-3.0 cu ft total?

well i mean 3 cubes total for the pair and if i tune it high it will be abit louder will it now? i havent bought them yet but i would like to get the 10s just because of space issue but i thought because more surface area theyd be louder but i know it all depends on the install

if you raise the tuning freq. it MAY be louder, but at a different freq. It's quite a complicated thing. I have a single twelve that will destroy alot of dual 12" set ups let alone a dual 10. Maybe all you need is to redisign the box that the XXX is in.

ya i understand that buti mean overall with higher tuning it will be louder over all right like thats why SPL comps MOST guys tune to like 40 hertz and higher right, with the lower tuning you get better deep base on the low notes, but the box for my xxx is good its tuned to 34 hertz in around 2.7 cubes gross, it SLAMS hard for a 12 but i just want a bit more and because the XXX is more of a SQL sub and the SX is a more spl orientated sub added with the more surface area and tuning im thinking they will be louder. but i could be wrong, i think ill take a few pics of my trunk and post them and see if any one has any ideas

that comes to 4.5 cu ft I know but he said he wanted 2.5-3.0 so I ignored his measurements. If you tune the box that high it will probably make it louder in the higher freq. yes however if you listen to rap and stuff like that the music tends to live in freq. lower than that therefore the box would not be louder overall. I would be willing to put money that the XXX will be louder than the 2 10's. If you want bass you've got to give up space. The cone area that you gain is offset by making the box too small for the 2 10's. you would need about the 4.5 cu ft. mentioned above for the 10's to be loud in which case your XXX is in a smaller box and would be louder!
