Hey guys/gals(are there any here??)

First time poster, long time audio nut!

Want some advice from all you guys....

About 2 months ago, all my stuff got ripped out of my 2000 Sunfire GT, so I am in the process of rebuilding...but I will be doing a totally stealth install..I have a few ideas about this...

So, I am asking for some opinions on the following install ideas:

1) False floor with amps below and a carpet cover. 1 10" on each side of my trunk (the taillight end) with carpet covers

2) Amps under backseat, I just read the post about the front seats, but has anyone tried the backseat?

3) Mounted to backseat with a a cover

Also, I am looking for some ideas on new gear...

I had a Pioneer Premier DEH-P630, Planet Audio P12DVC (this thing was killer!) with JL Audio 6x9's...PPI and Planet Audio for power...

I now have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P650, same rears and a Pioneer Premier 5 1/4 component set up front (sounds awesome!)

What are your suggestions for a 12 or 2 10's and some power....

Thanks guys!!!

Cool

Hey Man....Welcome to the Board!

About your subs...if your looking to stay with Pioneer right thru, the new Pioneer subs are killer!

Loud Brown Kicker Colt installed a 10"Pioneer in his neices Jeep. The box is slot ported(not sure how big the slot is)and is run off of a 200 watt amp....when its corner loaded...HOLY CRAP!!

Her single 10" hits about as hard almost as my 2 12's...and the excursion appears to be minimal.A very efficent sub and very cost effective($120 for a 12")

I am looking at the idea of picking up a couple 12" Pioneer's myself....But,right now I don't think its going to happen anytime soon.....

But if you do go that route,be sure to keep me posted about how they work...

Oh yeah...as much as people put them down,my Sony Xplodes have been awesome subs....Maybe not as efficient some of the higher priced subs, but they got me 2 second places last year off a 400 watt amp...Something to think about.....

Enjoy the board man!!

Keep on Thumpin'!!

I would love to go Planet Audio again, but m dealer doesn't do PA....I can go Kicker, Pioneer, Sony, Eclipse, Phoenix Gold or Image Dynamics...

Anyone have an opinion about my install choices??

A few thoughts............... just my lame ideas according to my tastes.

I'm not a big fan of rear fill, but that aside, this is what I'd recommend. Do a one amp system (5 or 6 channel). Run the front components all individually amped (4 channels), run the rear fill off the deck rear speaker outs (that deck is 50x4 if I'm not mistaken) and run the sub off the 5th channel or the 5th and 6th channels if a 6 channel amp. Then again, sell the 6x9's and put the money towards kick panels for your components With a 5.25" in a decent sized kickpanel setup, you can get it to play down nice a low and not sound all sloppy or distorted (if the kick enclosure is done right).

Forget the side rear panels for the sub(s). Put your spare tire in a nice vinyl bag from Crappy Tire and leave it behind the front passenger side seat. Then go with a single 12" in the spare tire well (or a 15" if you so desire!!) and mount the amp in the floor as well. Leave the trunk walls stock. Build only the floor. IT can be done so that when you open up your trunk, all you see is one big flat floor covered in acoustical carpet.............. and no one is the wiser. With the money you have saved in not building side wall enclosures, put it into those kick panels mentioned earlier.

It's a simple 5 speaker setup. But simple is good for so many reasons. You can always crack it up with fancy painted fibreglass, neon, etc, etc........... but it's easier to make it sound great if it's simple.

Hey prof....yeah, I had to follow you everywhere eh?

Dawg: Thanks for the suggestions...I am not a huge fan of kick panels, but your suggestion is definitely one to consider! Is there a 5/6 channel you would recommend? I am probably going to go with a Pioneer 12" and either a 4 channel and a 2 channel, or I am liking your one amp idea...

thanks again everyone for all the suggestions!!

Welcome to the board, Andrew.

You could also be nuts like me and use just 2 channel amps -- then mono bridge them to one speaker each and run a huge 3 way electronic x-over through them all.

Hahahaha.....my installer would love that!!

My dream install at this point, in this vehicle, would be....

False floor, 4 channel for fronts and rears, mono block/2 channel bridged for a nice dirty 12" or two nice clean 10"s...all nice and stealth in my trunk....oh well...two many ideas, not enough cash!!

BTW...i have checked the buy/sell forum, but if anyone has anything good, for a nice price let me know
