Five Speaker System
#1
Hi,
I'm a newbie at setting up stereos.
I have a five speaker system in my 'Cuda that I want to retain, but upgrade. Trying to stay stock as possible, so no new holes. I have replaced the speakers, but I also need to replace all of the wiring and the front crossover?
Can someone explain what is needed to make this work or point me to a site that can explain it to me. A picture would be nice.
I have two 3.5's and one 4x10 in the front dash and two 6x9's in the back.
Appreciate the help.
Jerry

A pair of 4" comps with the mids mounted in the 4x10 slot, and the tweets in the 3 1/2 openings should get you close....I wouldn't worry about 6x9s if you can afford the weight of a small sub....the 340 won't mind an extra 40 lbs...just be sure to bolt it in well, so you don't put a big dent in the tail when you hit second gear at 7 grand.

Oh...got excited when you said 'Cuda....what did you do for speakers?
You might try running the 4x10 off the left and right positive front leads....sort of a quasi centre fill. The centre speaker will only play the "difference" between the left and right channels.

seems like the perfect opportunity to do a multi channel system(5.1 surround sound). All you need is a surround processor or an amp with it built in like Alpine's Mra-d550, a sub and amp, and you have surround sound. If you want 5.1 digital you will need a dvd player, otherwise you can have dolby surround...and keep it stock looking.
