Sorry... haven't seen a weenie amp like that in awile.... maybe it was the shiz back in 1980...

I had an RF punch 100, rated at 50x2 at 4 ohms($499 in 1994) running my entire system(tweets/mids/midbass/2 subs) in a toyota truck. It was a very impressive amplifier.

Mark F also used a Punch 45 in his Blazer, but it was a line driver :D

Flashdance......man it used to be hard to find commercial music back in the day with a heavy bass line.

Mark ***uda (I love the filter!) used 4 Power 1000's on 16 fifteen inch subs. He shut off his high end when doing SPL. He averaged in the high 140's for most of his "heyday". That truck was awesome, but didn't sound as good as todays top SQ cars and wasn't nearly as loud as todays SPL cars. In fact I would venture to say that a street beater system with a pair of 13W7's and a pair of 1000 watt mono amps, and a 6 1/2 component set run by a 100 watt amp would compare favourably to his truck today, maybe not quite as good sounding, but just as loud running full range, and the whole back half of a Blazer wouldn't need to be sacrificed.

And Flashdance was the official song of USAC, you had to use it in competition.

Paul Niwranski 01-29-2005 09:44 PM

He used it in IASCA too ;) His box was tuned to THAT note.

I used to use Alannah Myles 'Lover of Mine' back in the day. A buddy had good luck with 'Hot for Teacher' by VanHalen

And Mark had 8 Power 1000s - he just never told people about the other 4

Ah yes, the good ole days. When people would roll up to the SPL mic and actually play MUSIC and you could understand what bonafide song was playing due to the car having more than just subs.

I remember Bach's Fugue from the Bachbusters CD being very popular as well. Had that great synthesized bass line that stepped down the range 9 or so notes part-way through the song.

Guess what song I heard today on 94.5 FM The Beat's Old Skool Brunch............ Rumpshaker :D
