It really depends on the quality of the installers employed at each store. One of the local stores in my area did my brothers sub/amp install and they managed to hook the sub up to a load that the amp conldnt handle thereby causing the amp to fry. And in the process screwed the sub into the box so tightly that the box actually split at the screw holes.

But then again...I dealt with another store which did an excellent job! Couldnt have asked for better workmanship in a deck/speaker/amp install.

So its really hit or miss.

All the more reason to get educated and do it yourself.... like they say if you want something done right... you gotta do it yourself

Cant say much for what I think of there install jobs, Done everything myself since day 1. Im sure you could do it yourself, save yourself some money and im sure the online caraudio community would be glad to help you out if need be . If you need any help or anything along the way, we got alot of experianced car audio junkys here . Could prob do a nice and clean install yourself, plus you are the one in control.....so there is no hesitation about somone doing a half *** job. If you really dont wanna do it yourself, im sure you could find locals who have used future shop to install there systems and that they would give you input on how well they handle them. Whichever way you choose to go, best of luck.

Talking future shop install

I see lots of pain in your future if you go to them. Be ready for a 4th of July spectacular display of sparks and FIRE works in your ride.

I think that this is really the problem. There is no consistancy with futureshop. I would treat them like a local installer. Go and talk to them. Speak to someone there. If you like them, ask if they have worked on a car similar to yours (less chance of surprises). Once you find someone, see if you can get them to do the work on your car. This may not always be possible for scheduling reasons, but its never a bad thing to ask. I would just approach them as if you had no idea what Futureshop is, and you didnt have a giftcard in your pocket.

Like everybody has stated talk to them, watch them do other people's installs and you be the judge! Get the installer to show you what he is doing and how he is doing the connections and such. Any good installer will take the time to do so.

Since you have a gift certificate use it on the deck and install.

One the side note:

I myself will never go to futureshop again becuase when they did the install of the cd player in my work truck (boss wouldn't let me do the install becuase of warrenty issues) they ended up use "t taps" and twist connectors! NOT Impressed.

Well since we only have one FutureShop here I would imagine that they will install everything properly, I have no problem raising hell if I feel something wasnt done right.
