General Question

My buddy has the JL 10w7, this thing sounds amazing with a 500/1 amp pushing it, I want to up grade my system now but dont really want to spend the same kinda cash but I do want to sound just as good. Any ideas on what i should get. Im leaning more towards getting 10" subs.

A single IDMAX 12 would be a good alternative.

You have lots of great alternatives. What vehicle will this be going into and what sort of investment would you like to make into the system?

I live in sudbury, so im trying to get ideas for the next time I got to Toronto, the system will be going into a 2003 Impala so I have a ton of trunk space. I am looking for SQ and something that will pound at the same time.

Any ideas as to budget? A dealer can blow you out of the water in a blink of an eye without knowing this. I for sure would not want to recommend some monster sub that need a monster amp and even larger wiring, then see the total hit $3500.00 and your mouth hit the floor to have you say, dude, I only wanted to spend $800.00. That is when the customer heads out the door and thinks they are getting burned. The more info the better.

I have a Rockford 500s powering my dual 12" sony explodes, so that amp will power whatever i decide to get for the time being, I am looking to spend about 500 bucks for subs, new amp will come later when i get a bit more money. I would like to drop down to 10" subs now though.

A pair of dvc 4 ohm sub wired in parallel / series will yield maximum output from this amp. Down the road if you want to go to a larger amp, a class D mono amp designed and built to operate at a 1 ohm load will work perfect as well. A pair of the tried and true Eclipse aluminum cone subs would work in this application while at the same time leaving you with a large amount of trunk space. If it is a one sub solution that you are after, a single DD3512 dual 2 ohm sub in the proper box will yield great results as well.

So any pair of DVC subs should be good, I was looking into the JL audio
10w6v2, I know the amp isnt that great to power them, but like i said I good sound quality but something that pounds hard. Thanks for all the great info so far.
