Getting 2 MKII 12's need help

I was looking at these subs and need help choosing a amp to power both. I've read that these subs can handle more than RMS without a problem is that true or total bs? Also would I have to upgrade electrically? Other sub suggestions welcome as I'm not totally sold on these.

JBL MKll 's ??

I ran those subs for almost 10 years and I LOVE the sound quality
IMO they are the tightest most detailed woofer I have ever owned

they can handle 1000w rms with MUSIC if the signal is clean with
no clipping but DO NOT give them more than their rated RMS with
a bass CD or clipp the amp ...... you will fill the car with smoke
they have a very light former that does not like heat

I just recently COOKED a 10" ...took 2 months to get the smell
out of the car..... I was running 2400w rms into the poor thing ....LOL

tune them low...they really shine when tuned flat

What's your budget and goals? Because I am budget strapped and you can put together a loud system for half the price depending on your goals. I mean you can check out sound qubed sundown American bass either the HDS3,HDc3/4 models, the Sundown SA-12 or 15 (not the E series), or American Bass VFL or XFL....all of these are good models that wont break your wallet for hard hitting subs and I know for a fact they can handle more than they are rated for especially the SQ models.
