I wonder if they got their performance mods done by someone else then. The Mirage was no slouch. Had a 490 HP turbo'd flat 6, would run the 1/4 in the low 12s and I dunno what for top speed but for $375,000 I would hope it would be high!

Yes. I am not sure of the exact year, but it was Put on by George Reed and was called Thunder on Wheels. At least that was the first big one, I am sure there were little parking lot "I am louder than you" comps going on before that, but George Reed started the real organized show.

Ohh yeah - I forgot about the Thunder on Wheels stuff - although I would argue that it was mostly SPL and mostly only in Texas
