Good CarAudio Shops in the GTA
#1
hey all, i was hoping someone could help me find a reliable shop in the GTA. My head unit hasn't worked for months, and i've given up on trying to fix it myself (plus, it's so cold who wants to spend that much time in their garage). I've replaced all the fuses, and i've put the stock unit back in, still no luck.
Anyways, i'm willing to pay someone to fix it for me. But i'm very concerned with getting screwed over. I was hoping someone could recommend a reputable shop to me, so i don't have to walk into a seedy shop and pray they won't screw me over.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I have dealt with quite a few really good shops, so they do exist, but as you say, they can be hard to find.
20hz in woodbridge is awesome, but they are generally really busy. Having said that you may get lucky becasue it is so cold, they may be dead right now. I'd recommend them firstly for installs/custom work, but their overall service is awesome too. Frank is the owner, he can get all the gear, but their shop itself is more geared towards the custom install part of things to the casual observer. They did some fibreglassing for me that has continued to surpass both expectation and value.
If you are interested in going a bit further into the city, I really like the guys and girls at Number One Sound on College at Dovercourt, as well.
They are a family run business, have been there for like 15 years, and are really down to earth and customer oriented. They have a lot more stuff in-store than most 'mom and pop' shops, and are receptive to issues people bring up like internet stores and such. Prices are great and they seem to have an endless supply of old stock and hard to find interesting pieces squirreled away in the 'dungeon'. A realistic point of view from the owner, George, about pricing and the industry in general is really refreshing.
Check em out, Google them and you'll get their websites. I have no complaints about either shop, though as I said, 20hz is the busier of the two.

WOW! thanks for all the help everyone. I'll take my car in this week and hopefully have some music in my car again. I'll probably go to Number 1, cuz i work downtown, and it'd be easiest for me.
I'm a little worried though, assuming all goes well, they'll probably talk me into overhauling my whole system... WOOHOO!!! project!
Thanks again...

dont worry, they do lay-away, ahaha
George at Number 1 usually has some sick deals on b-stock (especially RF and Alpine) if you dont mind. Still full warranty and all, but I know some folks are anti-B stock. Be sure to inquire.
Good Luck
