Grounding questions
#1
A friend of mine just bought a 'circular grounding kit' for his Lexus. Its basically a few 4awg cables that connect the primary grounding point to the battery to a few other points in the engine bay.
Does anyone have any comments on these kits?
I will be replacing my battery soon, and want to sort out the underhood wiring. In stock form, the battery has a single 8awg ground cable connecting to the strut tower. I am using a 4awg wire to my trunk to power my xtant. Would it make sense to use a 1/0awg ground to the strut tower? or should I just stick with a 4awg. Will it make any difference?
Thx

I upgraded both my battery to frame connection and engine to frame connection with the same size as my run to the back. 2ga. Just use the same ga as your run to the back. Using anything bigger than the run is to the back is useless.

Is that one of those kits that are advertised in Import Magazines? They are a huge waste of money. Just buy some 2 guage power wire and some ring terminals and do it yourself. Even if you buy overpriced car audio wire you will save a bunch compared to those kits. Do it with welding cable and you will save huge.

No way in hell I'm paying $300 for 10 feet of 8awg wire and some crimp rings. I will definatly be doing anything like that myself. I'm just curious about ways to improve grounding under the hood.
Btw, where can you get welding wire?

lol - those kits are an awesome scam. Usually there is someone on a site raving about how they got in the range of 8-15 hp from the kit too. Classic.
I figure if people are that stupid I have some low air resistance hood paint and high compression hubcaps they can buy too
