Hi:

If a head unit looks to be in mint condition and not abused, does it matter that it is 10 years
old?

In other words, do any of the components of the head unit deteriorate even if not highly used?
An extreme example, would be 10 years old, NIB.

Thanks.

John

Well, I had a Coustic CD-3 unit from 1990. And it still works awesome in my brothers car, except that it has trouble playing CD's sometimes due to a misaligned laser (that's what I was told anyways). That might be one thing you want to watch out for I guess.

The only things that get better with age are cheese and wine

With electronics it depends on how much and how hard they are used

I would say that any type of gears or moving parts in a deck or other electronic item will get worn out over time. If they didn't then things wouldn't need to be replaced. Pretty simple logic I guess. LOL!
