Head unit fine, all speakers dead - Help

2005 Escape with basic system and no subwoofer. Unit lights up and appears to operate fine, radio tunes, signal good, CD appears to function only thing, no sound. Bought an aftermarket unit and same problem. Hooked a speaker directly to back of new unit and sound was clear. Removed one of the door speakers and it too is good. Conclusion, issue is between factory connector to unit and speakers, but all four speakers dead? Factory harness goes into larger underdash harness. Felt around and played with ever under dash connection/junction I could find to no avail.

Last resort will be to run new speaker wires from unit to each speaker bypassing factory connections

Any ideas?

Thanks

Any one have a link to underdash factory harness diagram?

So.. check continuity with an Ohmmeter between the in dash harness and each wire at the speakers. would be odd indeed if all 4 speaker wires are dead by themselves.
Follow the wires from the connector. Maybe there was an amp in the past and the wires are intercepted somewhere.

Problem solved!

Behind the leading edge of the center console in the passenger footwell is a connector that only carries the eight leads to the four door speakers. Very accessible. It appears that all it was only a loose connector.
