When I release the parking brake the DRL come on for a short second then they flash on and off (with the dash icon) and then they go out and the "service" icon comes on.

I can hear the relay for them switching so I assume it is OK. The bulbs, connection at bulbs, and fuses were all inspected and are all OK.

When I turn on the main headlights the left one is bright while the right one is very dim.

Any ideas?

Did you check the ground wire on that side? if not check it out, perhaps it's loose or corroded.

Well the connections on the headlights are fine.
Both grounds come together and meet on a ground block under the battery tray/air box.

The grounding block under the airbox was the only thing I couldn't get at (not including under dash connections). Voltage at the dim bulb was 10.*v and the bright was 12.*v.

I may try manually grounding the dim bulb to take that out of the equation. I think the body control module might need to be reflashed as that was suggested by someone else. That can be expensive so I might try the grounding first.

Where is the ABS module? Or will pulling the ABS fuse work the same?

Under the dash I presume but which one is the ABS module? How do I distinguish it?

(and pulling the fuse didn't work)

Also, the DRL don't actually ever come on. The icon lights up for a second before flashing but the lights themselves don't actually come on.

so this may sound silly but they checked the lights right? and what was the result of the code that they found when u sent your car in. what was the engine code that they got off of the car? sounds like the drl module is shot so far.
