Hello new here and I need some help.

Hello, New to this web sight and looking forward to your input. I bought a new head unit Clarion CZ501 6 channel preouts and have a MTX 4244 amp that I was going to use to power the front and rear speakers with and would like to add a sub . I also have a sony 2 channel amp from years ago that still works great and was wondering if I should use the MTX for the rear speakers and the bridged the other channel in the MTX for a sub and sony for the front ? or just buy a new mono amp or bridgeable amp for the sub and not use the sony at all as it cannot be bridged. Thanks a head of time for your input.

Sounds about right. If you cannot use the sony to bridge then use them for front or rears.
Also do not over estimate the need to amplify the rears. Most of your sound will come from the fronts. You did not give us the power of the Sony so I don't know what is better for the fronts, the MTX or the Sony.

Thanks for the reply. The Sony MX 120 old amp is it says 60 watts X 2 , MTX 4244 amp is 55 watts X 4 or bridged 200watts car is Porsche 944 so the spreakers in the front doors are Polk 4X6 plate speakers, rear speakers are MTX 6.5" coaxial was going to use one 8" sub in the rear cubby KLA makes sub box for this car. So not sure if I should buy new mono amp or a bridgable amp for the sub or just bridge MTX and use the sony for either front or rear speakers?

Without getting into a debate over which amp is better, you have the same power in the Sonyas in the MTX. (assuming it is 60watts into 4ohms, as is the MTX 55 watts into 4 ohms).

So you will have 200 watts for the sub and 55 watts for the fronts all in one amp.
Optionally 60 watts a channel for the rears.

Some things to consider:
1: Most of the sound should come out the front speakers with the rears as fill. So you may be happy with the HU power for the rears.
2: the fronts are small and wont have much bass... They will need to be high passed relatively high in frequency.. say 100hz or more. Consider replacing them with 6.5 inch.
3: considering the small fronts, an 8 inch sub should be fine with the 200 watts but try to see if you can fit in a 10 inch.
4: A separate sub amp will only be noticeable if you go way more than 200 watts. Rememer power is logarithmic. 400 watts will give you only 3 db more output. You can probably do better with a 10 inch sub instead of an 8 inch.
