help :) ?

alrighhtttt with my little knowledge of amplifiers,i have a few questions about an amp.

MTX 1-Channel Amplifier (TC6001M) 1800 watts
says 600 watts rms. so that means that its not actually 1800 watts but 600 ?

if so then what does the 1800 watts part mean ?

what does it mean to " Tune " a box ?

what does it mean to wire something to so many ohms ?

1800 watts PEAK
600 watts RMS @ 2 ohms

When your looking at products, most people go buy the RMS value of it. The RMS of the product is what counts (in simple terms)

Tuning an enclosure has to do with how an enclosure will act when playing certain music, notes, tones, etc. Its complicated to get into. When you have an enclosure tuned to a certain hz, it is usually to suit the woofer/style of music you listen to/the purpose you want out of your system.

ahhh ok so rms is what to look for then? so if i was to look for an amp with a 1000 watts id be looking for a 1000 watts rms not peak?

so tuning it is basicly how its built? what about the wiring ohms thing?

Rms is indeed what you need to look for. The amp makes it rated power into a given impedence (expressed in ohms). In order to get full power from the amp, the sub(s) must be wired or matched to that given impedence. If the amp makes 1000w rms into 1 ohm, then you would need to choose a sub or subs that when wired together would present a 1 ohm load to the amp.

This is why you seek the proper help, to know that it is both set up properly in design and installed properly.

Subs come with diagrams showing you have to wire them down to a certain ohm.

Ask lots of questions is the best thing to do, never mind if we have heard them all before or not.

thats what im doin, iv been readin alot on here in the last few days and iv been seein a bunch of terms iv never herd of before.. when i installed mine all i did was bridge my 4 channel amp for the two subs, turned down the bass on my HU and up on the amp untill it sounded nice and switched both crossover's? to lowpass. but now im starting to rethink it

I dont have a diagram, i bought my amp wiring and 10" sub off a friend and then my 12 off another friend. all i know about them is the size and the watts..
