help needed to decide an amp out of pg ,mmats ,sundown audio amps
well i finalised some amps according to my needs
they are pheonix gold xenon 600.1 , MMATS 1600.1 , Sundown Audio SAE-1000D and elemental designs 9.1
all of these give me the desired power i need ,i liked old pheonix gold amps and sure know sundown audio makes good stuff and all the other news
this is where problems start ..this leads to various confusions ,what good whats bad
so any body who is reading this post do give suggestions on these amps ,it may be comparison or any experience with these amp.thanx

I have an Elemental nine.1
It works good, although I have some issues with the way elemental designs does business, and will no longer be buying from them.
Tha amp makes a bunch of clean power, sounds good, runs cool, not too expensive.

First I must say I have ZERO experience with any of them except the eD9.1.....after looking over the specs online here's where I ended up...
PG Xenon 600.1 - Best looking amp out of them all! Seems out of place....underpowered compared to the rest. Only rated down to 2ohm. Going by specs, power supply seems adequate but lacking compared to the others, the other amps show doubling in power or close to it going from 4ohms to 2ohms.
MMATS 600.1 - Ugliest amp of them all(to me)! Heard good things about them. Only found power output rating at 1ohm so hard to compare. For me the input voltage is too low at 2.5volts. Might be a great competition amp, need more info though. Seems like a very nice amp for sure but you can get the same power for less $$$ elswhere.
Sundown Audio SAE-1000D - Very nice looking amp. 24db/oct xovers! Good input voltage, power doubles from 4 to 2ohm.....nearly doubles again from 2 to 1ohm.
Elemental Designs NINe.1 - "Okay" looking amp. Good input voltage, power doubles from 4 to 2ohm. Power rated at 12.5volts. Built in fan.
For me it came down to price for performance. Since I'm only looking at online specs I would go with either the Sundown or eD. Probably I would choose the eD, it has the most power for the least amount of money between the two, around $100US less. It's rated for power at 12.5v so you should see even more power when it's hooked up to your electrical system, plus I like having a fan on my amps when I can.
I always use an outboard xover on my own systems but if I didn't have one I might switch to buying the Sundown for its 24db/oct over the eD's 12/oct. Let us know what you decide!

imho you are looking at totally different amps.
i have pg 600.1 now that is going to go soon as i don't have a sub anymore and its an excellent performer. down side is the size, it's about as big as the rest of the 1kw amps. it does have a fancy feature of the output at same impendence. people showed birthsheets of them being underrated, but you won't get anywhere near 1kw with it if that is your goal. most likely you will need a line driver for it, unless you like your gains cranked up, xenons love high input voltage.
well duh what do you expect? it was designed that way. it does 1-4 ohm.

...can someone clarify one way or the other?
the "more headroom" comment totally confused me as well? I thought headroom was the available power-power being used=headroom???....splain this too please

More capacitance for the ability to instantly supply more power without running into a wall is the headroom I am speaking of.
