help picking out a HU

k so the story go's.

I've had alpine HU for the past 10+ years first was a 7873 and now a 9815.
the 7873 i put in the wife car. Well the display just stopped working, but it works just fine. Now im looking to replace her deck with something else, not tooking to spend a frotune but want some quallity as she does have a system in there.
Id like to stay with alpine but not a must. So shoot me some models so i can start to research, must be mp3wma complient.

thanks

Eclipse CD4000 should make the short list as well.

I lost my Alpine 9813 to water damage when I had it in my Jeep YJ last year. Although I loved the HU, I did some research and ended up replacing it with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X589. It sounds great...a lot cleaner than the Alpine was. It has a 24 bit D/A where the Alpine had a 20 bit I think..not a lot of difference but it was noticeable in SQ. I do miss the MP3 controls of the Alpine though.

I thought they were a great cd player. I liked the simple display and looks of the unit myself. If you don't need sat radio functions, then it should be a good score. How much did you find it for and does it work properly? Nobody wants to buy a door stop.

I recommend the Kenwood Excelon HU's. Great sounds quality and excellent control. I am running an X-890 with usb input and so far, it sounds great and has many features.
