Higher output Alt for not 7-9 bills?

Im looking to replace or rewind my stock celica alt, 70amps. Is there a place that doesn't charge insane prices for a HO alt? or is there a place i can get this one rewound?

im in niagara but wouldnt mind having to go to toronto

have you checked autoparts stores around and asked how big they can get??? 6 700 $ is a load man. i wish i can grab bigger than a 160 but even then 160amps alt for mine is 290 i beleive.

I called anywhere around my town that would have it and was getting 900 quotes. a 70amp alt is not going to stand up to this system, so i really need to find a more feasible solution.

A rewind is going to put even more heat into the same size case and end result is cook itself to death. If you go the rewind route, get it in writing that they will warranty it under any circumstance should it die a horrible smelly death by db. A purpose built alternator is huge $, you have to decide which way is going to be good for you.

Do a search on this forum. There are literally a dozen threads full of advice. You have an Americak car and that should be very easy and cheap. As Danyman said around $300. And dont have it rewound, get a bigger replacement.

I just bought a 1988 Celica Alltrac. I also feel your pain in regards to the crap stock alternator.
