So have it shipped to the border then. Shipping will be cheaper that way as it is within the US. Just pay the taxes when you cross.

You will not pay duty on anything made in the USA, that being said you will be taxed but you will be taxed in Canada also so the only difference is the amount of money you want to pay tax on. Depending on who you ship with will depend on how much you pay for brokerage. UPS owns most of the Brokerage firms so they will burn you. I personally think there is a law being broken there as they are double dipping. USPS is the best choice. Sometimes you will get charged brokerage sometimes not. I think it is random or based on the amount of the purchase. I will say shop around for shipping quotes as allot of places will subsidize their revenues with shipping charges. You live close enough I would drive down and bring it back, use your tax free claim, take a friend and use theirs as well. If you buy two amps get two receipts. I played the border game for 20 years and rarely ever can you get a better deal in Canada. It seems like they feel you should just pay more.

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from the states. Lots of times it's free shipping within the continental states. I go down grab it from the receiver and on the way back I've never been charged tax or duties, and I declare everything, whether it be clothes, electronics, or even motor oil

they always make you pay tax man

I've never been charged anything at the border so if they can somehow tOe my money without me knowing it, they haven't charged me

as stated earlier..I dont pay any additional fees or taxes... simply ask the seller to send it USPS(united states postal service)
the rates are usually cheaper than the rest of the companies and you dont pay brokerage. it does sometimes take a little longer but 1-3 weeks max ive saved hundreds of $$$ using USPS |
It is not a question of IF laws are being broken, it is a question of who is breaking them. If you or I had a small business that done what FED EX done we would be in court in a heartbeat. Same as the oil companies, there is not enough paper to record the laws they break, price fixing for one but they get away with it because they are the same people that decide who gets charged and who doesn't.
