As mentioned in the SPL section.. IASCA just made a huge mistake this year by moving the finals too far away from their main competitor base.

Right now they're almost a regional org in the US... and that region happens to be the East of the US. So bringing it all the way to the mid-west was just shooting themselves in the foot.

They need to concentrate on where they are strong right now and build from there.

IASCA needs to figure out quick that they can NOT compete with the likes of USACi and dB Drag. They need to bring Finals back to the east and hold it in a smaller venue. And when I say small I mean small, Find a place that will hold upto 50-60 vehicles and a couple thousand square feet for booths and thats it. Spend the rest of the money on advertising. If possible give away prize money as that will attract people to actually attend the finals.

There is more that I can think of but im too lasy to type it out.

Back in the days of the Big Cash Prize they had no trouble attracting people...then again they were the only game in town.

I think IASCA has made a lot of poor decisions in the past and the typical long term competitor has the memory of an elephant.... they never forget.

IASCA turnout was down… what does that mean

NSPL finals was down
DBDrag turnout was down
SLAP turnout was down
USACi (?) I don’t know
MECA will probably be low too and we had a good year

Once gasoline prices went through the roof the attendance when to heck too. Maybe SPL shows ARE slowing down (of course I am an SQ guy (snicker))… I think we just need to bring in the next crop of new competitors. We definatley need more sponsorship and could be anyone that is looking for youth demographics.

IASCA made its name with SQ but SPL has been where the $ is at. MECA shows have been consistantly growing SQ competitors so I have faith in their future, it may just change a little over time. I havent seen a lot of new faces in IASCA SQ... I have never seen that much interest in my part of the continent in USACi SQ (though it IS a good program) and is quite strong elsewhere.

I think you may start to see the big companies like IASCA and USCAi merge. The points sharing is just the start IMHO. I think it would be smart for DB Drag to join in on what IASCA and USACi did this year. Come togther for one big finals. It saves the orgs money and makes for a better show for everyone. I had lots of fun at this years finals (not just because I won) and plan on going to many more. It was worth the drive.
