How is "High-End" Classified?

How is "High-End" Classified?

I am not sure what really people think High-End is, Do you consider things to be High-End by there price point, SQ, Brand?

Please tell me you thoughts

Reputation, pedigree, and exclusivity usually. The price usually follows with that as it's rare to have anything considered high end that's cheap. I personally use that as a guide but ultimately use my ears to judge what i like.

Performance dictates what is high end.

I think most really high performance products are also expensive.

I agree. Occasionally you will find a product that performs above it's price point but usually you have to pay to play.

Don't think I've ever owned any high-end equipment for audio, It just costs too much.

I prefer to get in the "Middle" of things

High end implies, to me, better and expensive, but I don't think the fist part is necessarily true hehe.

I agree, high end is usally high priced, but then there are lower end lines to high end companies like focals access speakers which i think perform fantastically for the price you pay
