I just got a new HU today, a Sony CDX-GT200. It's from eBay, so I wouldn't be all that surprised if it's just a lost cause, but I figured I'd ask here before I sent it back.

When I installed the HU, as soon as I plugged it in, it turned on to a blank screen. My key wasn't even in the ignition. It just lights up and has no text or anything.

I put my key in and turn my car on, and nothing happens. It remains that way. No sound, no nothing. Just lit up.

Like I said, it could just be an unrepairable internal problem, being from eBay. But, I thought maybe this is a common problem or something. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

 

Sounds like you have the wiring mixed up.

 

Haha, you made me second-guess myself, so I went and double checked. All the wiring is correct.

 

By lite up, do you mean just the decks illumination?

 

Yeah, the LCD screen glows blank and the buttons are all lit up.

 

hmmm sorry, I If your positive it's connected correctly, maybe someone on here knows of a good place you can bring it to get checked out ..... Did you give it a good sniffing? That magic smoke is pretty potent.

 

Yeah, I was afraid so. Haha. I only paid 30 dollars for it, because I already had the faceplate. So, I guess I'll just send it back to the guy. Hopefully I won't be out too much on shipping.
