I Just bought a new amp a Pioneer and the the gain setting for it look different from my other 2 amps.

It says Normal Preout Level 2V and then it has 2 other settings Preout Level 4 V and Preout Level 6.5

Should I try the different Setting or just oleave it at Normal?

This is probably a gain range selector. Match it to the output of your head unit. If you have 2 volt preouts, set it to 2V and 4 volt to 4V etc.

on a regular potentiometre "dial" gain, 2v would be your maxx setting usually low end decks and line out converters should be set at this level. if you have a general purpose mid-grade head unit, it usually comes with a 4-5v pre-out.....only high-end expensive SQ head unit come with a "true" 6-6.5v pre out.

This selector could also be used in conjunction with a potentiometer as well. The switch mearly selects a range which gives you more sweep to fine tune you gain settings. Other manufactures do this as well.

What SQ decks put out 6-6.5 "true" volts. Any of them packing TA, 13+ band EQ, and Xover control in one case? Always looking to upgrade.... You know what I never actually got to hear but wish I did. The Pioneer P9.

Eclipse CD7200mkii. It's got your 8 volt preouts and all the sound tuning bells and whistles, among many, many others.

ECLIPSE CD/USB Multi-Source Tuner with Bluetooth wireless technology CD7200 mkII | Fujitsu Ten

Bought mine for $529+GST. Can't wait to install her, I think she will be named Cleo. LOL

I've been out of the Car Audio game for a while and I couldn't believe how much prices have dropped on Head Units and Amps.

I have an Eclipse 5506, which was THE SQ unit of it's day. It was $1300 back then and it only had a 3 band graphic EQ on board!

But this doesn't make sense, if you factor in inflation, that's like a 1/3rd the cost of my 5506 and it's far more advanced (in most ways). As far as I can tell it has been built to superior SQ specs compared as well.

Crazy!
