What track is it that does this to your subs? Maybe others can help if you let us know or have the same experience.

I have had this happen with every car speaker I have tried to run off of my home system. My home system desires 8-16 ohm speakers. I have come to the conclusion that my home amplifier reacts with this slapping noise as an objection to the 4 ohm load. I wired the two subs that slapped in series, and it stopped.

The part that I don't understand is that typically when you give an amp too low of an impedance it will heat up and potentially become a BBQ. I don't know why my home receiver does this, but without fail it does it every time I connect a 4 ohm driver to it (I have tried this with 4 different 4 ohm drivers - Pioneer, Jensen, Cerwin Vega and Panasonic - all of which had different power ratings from 50WRMS - 300WRMS) Each speaker made that noise around the same volume.

Perhaps instead of over-heating when the impedance is too low, the amp sends a voltage spike or something like that. I don't know. But this is my guess as to what is happening in your set up.

Yeah that MUST be it because my subs are hooked up on my home system and it hooked into my computer and it does get hot because it's ment to only use 8 ohm but it will take 4 ohms or 2 ohm are a lower volume or the fuse will go out here is a tip hook up big *** fan on it and it won't be hot anymore.
