Hey there everyone. First time here,

Just a quick question.

I have a 2004 Mitsu Ralliart. Great condition.

The question i have is i want to upgrade my factory speakers to aftermarket speakers. Ontop of that, i would also like to have a Sub.

I was referred to the Infinity Basslink, and upon doing alot of research, i came to the conclusion that this is quite possibly one of the better Subs on the market.

The reason i have a powered sub is because i want to conserve the space in my trunk as i do use it enough that i dont want a big block to waste the space. The Basslink apparently packs quite the punch for the size it is, and alot of people are definitely impressed by it.

What are your thoughts?
What, in your opinion, is a better space saving sub?
What speakers for front and rear do you suggest?

FYI, the speakers must be 6.5"

I would also like to add that the seats ARE fold down, and i do utilize that alot, hence the reason i want a smaller sub as opposed to a box.

 

A flat 10" sub in a single truck box will both take up less room than the Infinity, and supply more bass in almost every case. Mount the amp out of the way and you have an easily removable sub (2 wires) if you absolutely need the extra trunk room.

 

This way you can also purchase an amp that can drive the sub and front speakers. I agree with Paul, a shallow mount 10" in a box is a great way to go. It takes up a small amount of space and is easily removeable if you have to as well. Do you have a budget for the upgrade?

 

Can you guys give me links/suggestions? Im very new to the audio scene, so i know absolutely nothing about it.

I dont particularly want to have a crazy system. Its not all about the audio, and it's more for personal use. I'm not really wanting to go over 600.

 

My recommendation would be a 4 channel amp, use it to power the front speakers and the shallow mount sub. Eliminate the rear speakers for now if you must so that you can get good front speakers. You can always add the rear ones later and they are the least important speakers in the vehicle. Have a box made locally as they are too expensive to ship to you. There are ample people in your area that can build a basic sealed box for you. PM Jalat for example. I have a couple of suggestions for you that you can pick up the deals on while they last.

I have one shallow mount Pioneer Premiere 10" left that would be ideal for your application. I am assuming that you are not after ground pounding bass response, just something to round out the sound and let you listen to it at a respectable level. I have a deal left on a 4 channel amp to put into this system as well. Add a wire kit and some speakers you are going to be close to your budget.

 

I am pretty sure that a 6.75" speaker can fit in the front and rear of this vehicle. It's been awhile since I have seen one. I just sent a message to one of my customers to have him drop by my store with his Lancer so I can have a look at it again.

When you say that there are "ample people" in my area, do you know of any? Because i don't even know of one myself.

As for the "ground pounding response", i don't mind, as long as it's a reasonable price.

If the goal is to minimize space, ground pounding response is not really an option. If respectable output with minimal space is what you are interested in, then a shallow mount driver like the Kenwood Excelon is recommended. It is a good balance of output and tonal response that is not going to overwhelm the rest of the system.
