Maybe Canadian music sucks to Yanks? Then stop listening to Nelly Furtado, The Tea Party, Our Lady Peace, Barenaked Ladies, Treble Charger, Outkast, I Mother Earth (old and new), Gob, Alanis Morissette, just to name a few. You might as well isolate yourselves from us all now. We're so bad.
By your post I assume you didn't see my previous post listing several canadian artists who I like, and you can add alanis to that list...oh, and chantal kreviazuk(sp). Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, and Alanis are 3 of my favorite artists, regardless of nationality. I don't know I Mother earth, but you can keep our lady peace, and outkast. BNL can stay

Well, really it isn't a matter of whether or not you like certain Canadian artist. The issue of Canadian content on satellite airwaves is of our concern, not yours. So don't complain about it.

So if I don't live in Canada, I can't comment on a strange rule/regulation? You are taking this a little too seriously. I just don't understand WHY Canada does this? That is all(I would think it would be just as bad IF US stations had a US content regulation).

they have those laws so that radio stations will play Canadian content...made in Canada, which helps the economic wheel turn by supporting Canadians. I hope that XM will have to abide by the CRTC rules. We are already waaay to americanized and loosing our good Canadian music would suck ***.

^He said it.
And I'm not taking this so seriously. I'm just stating my factual opinions.

I would be more than willing to let you guys north(and east of of the border for me) have a TON of the crap that is american music these days. I don't know how XM/Sirius could do it though without just adding a ton of programming to abide by the canadian content laws. I guess since XM uses some US stations for their music(unlike Sirius), they could probably start with using canadian stations, but it might be hard to get the content on more specialized stations(is there really that much canadian reggae, jazz, blues, or new age, for example to satisfy the content laws?)

If they did have them that would be great. I love the eastern seaboard Fiddle music, and I love anything from Scotland and Ireland, so I would tune into stuff like that, but most of the time I just like anything and everything on the radio.

Agreed Canada has to regulate some of the music, but does that mean they have to shove it down peoples throat? It really gets to me if your listening to a great mix of music, and then all of a sudden, from out of no where, they put on this artist that shouldn't have every been allowed to release an album, on the airwaves. I switch stations -- Always.

Perry is right... I wouldn't want Content Laws interfearing with my music if it was over Sat.

If the artist is good enough to be played on a certain channel, than so be it, but I hate it when songs that are so out of the time or out of the loop of the music that was flowing, just to meet "Content Laws".
