have the same board as the newer ppi pcx's and the orions...

The cooling vents on the sides throwing me off. its probably a smaller brand named amp.

the amps pretty symmetrical, however its near identical to many of the offshore made amps.

The amp pictured above is the bigger brother to that amp most likely (board)

Ok now the answer:

It's a Soundstream Tarantula TR 500/4.

That's quite the nice looking amp. 4 power transformers and what looks to be bi-polar transistors. I'd hit it.

Battyrida's amp pictured looks similar except some stuff is placed differently.

At least Soundstream appears to still makes SOME good stuff. Hope the looks match the performance.

the amp i pictured is your standard run of the mill 2400 watt class d.. open up an orion 2400d or many other 2000+ watt amps, guaranteed you will find the board to be the exact thing.

The company who makes the amps (chunglams digital) just uses a dumby name (caliber) to badge the amps and sell direct to the public. They make amps for, autotek, memphis, some cadence, hifonics, orion, ppi, etc...

Pretty cool to buy a 2000+ watt amp for around 200 bucks US brand new.

Is the build quality the same, though? Can I expect to buy something like that so dirt cheap and expect it to work like other peices many times more money?

Some components may be different, however they do their rated power, i remember a few years ago a member over on termpro actually bought a few of the 1100d's (same as the memphis 1100d's) exact same amp including heatsink just badged as caliber. that one has a diff heatsink than orion. Alot of the amp companies have contracted there buildhouses off shore (not uncommon) they still are decent quality. most of the audio stuff out there today has offshore assembly or offshore parts in em.
