professional or not, your time is worth money. so get money, cause favours are all well and nice but not everyone repays. there are tons of douchebags that will walk allover you if you let them. doing stuff for free sets the expectation that your worthless and will yourself out to them at anytime. i made that mistake when i was working with computers, if people know your good at something they will try to take advantage of it. just my 2 cents i could be bitter and jaded i could be right either way nothing in life is free.

Or maybe you have jerks for friends and should find some new ones. Real friends don't take advantage of you.

Installing a deck and a couple sets of speakers would take all of a hour or 2 max. Is his time worth $40 per hour at 15? No I don't think so. It sounds like it is him taking advantage of a friend here.

fs charges 30.00 for a basic speaker install.......

I really like the one about cordless drills
Tools are meant to be used.........ALL tools. What do you use to make a hole??????? The point on the top your head???
Like they say, people who can't, just talk.

Charge out for your time...friend or not. Believe me.......I have been doing this for a long time and EVERYONE has a car will "ask" you for a "favour". It can and will take on a life of it's own. CHARGE OUT your time. How long did it take???? For a buddy he would be glad to pay 50-100 for the job plus parts. Remember, if it was so easy then he could do it himself. This is the biggest reason I NEVER install on buddy's cars....they are booked into the shop and they pay. I have NEVER had any issues with friends paying.....they all know that I have a family and money makes the world go around. I have ALWAYS paid my friends when I need thier pro-help

Your time is worth money for some people. Im selective with who I would charge for work. If its a good friend, I dont think charging money for the work is really necessary. That would sort of work on the 'you scratch my, I'll scratch yours' type of principle. If its not really that good a friend, than I would have no problem with charging them.

</font>
the point isnt his age, its the fact that he did the work. if its so easy that it should be free then why didnt his friend do it. probably cause they have no idea. so they went to him...why cause he has an idea. even at 15 he could very well know exactly what he is doing or atleast moreso than his friend and that right there merits the fact that he should get some effin money. friends or not money makes the world go round. if its not a concrete i do this for you and i get this in return monetary or not then the deal should be a nogo. cause people forget. you do go to mr lube and ask for a deal from the youngest mechanic there because of his age and you feel since he is young his time isnt worth as much as someone older.

note: when i was 13 i started a computer consulting company, i billed out 80 dollars and hour. no one had trouble paying it, because by the time they tried to do it themselves they were so frustrated that they would have been happy to pay anything to get what they wanted. age is just a number, knowledge and experince you gain with time. but skill and talent your born with, its just a fact of life that some people are better at things than others and thats why people pay you to do things cause they cant do it, or just dont want to be bothered with it. no body works for free, if you do then your a sucker.

When I do work for friends,it's usually HU's and spkeares, but sometimes running wire for amps.
If it's for a friend I don't charge, I mean they're friends, so suually I get a free lunhc, dinner, drinks when we go out whatever. That's fine by me.
