UNless your a Moron and wire'ed it backwards the protection should of come on even if they were wired backwards.

I had a professional do the install in the kia and it was working when he tested it but when I picked it up at the store right there in the parking lot it all went up in smoke so now he will be redoing it all. I think the amps failed. Both amps had extended warranty but the company I purchased the amps replied and I quote. “The amps cannot be covered under warranty since the interior circuit board is blown up. This is something we have never seen before. It is probably due to lack of voltage or bad installation. I am sorry but we won’t be able to cover this under warranty.”

Sorry to here about your system. That sucks. Just a suggestion for what it's worth, you may want to look at the Alpine PDX amps. Very, very efficient for the power they put out. If you want to read some reviews, there are a number of threads in the DIYMA review section. These amps are really small and are stackable. Good luck on your rebuild.
