I bought two pyramids pb2400b for my subs yesterday and installed them all today. It was long job since i only have a small civic hatchback and i had to take the backseat out to install my amps, the subs are in the trunk and I need the space between the amps and the front seats for scuba equipment. I just went for a ride to listen to the music and it sounds great and all but for some reason there is a strong odor coming from the amps, maybe because they are new, but it smells weird in the car. It is very unpleasant, could it be something about the amps being plugged wrong?I also have to say I had to take off the windshield washer reservoir to make room for a 2nd battery, my friend says its more power for the amps and in my town we dont really need windsheild washer, its pretty dry here. I was thinking maybe it overheats the amps, it really gets worst when I am driving around... Its weird though it doesnt smell like burnt but more like glue, as if the amp itself is just stinky.

Are the woofers new too? Are they in a vented box? Did you actually sniff an amp to confirm the smell comes from the amps?

What impedance and coil configuration are your woofers? What impedance does the manufacturer claim your amps are good to?

the battery is not overheating the amps

without an isolator though the second battery is a bad idea on your stock alt

civic alts are so small

I think in a previous topic the bret said that he just bought them. On the mtx website the 9500 series come in dvc 4 ohms. If I'm not mistaken and those amps are "supposed" to be good for 1 ohm. I'm guessing he slapped two subs per amp in parallel (with VCs parallel) and is riding at 1 ohm.

Maybe the Pyramids can't hold their load

And you mounted the battery where the washer fluid goes? Just my opinion but what happens if a bird ****s on your window? And what are you going to do in winter; use windex and clean the window while you're on the highway?

Lastly, I think you shoud get help because if you mounted the amps where the rear seat is, I know at least MY gas tank is located there, probably yours too. I'm not sure that's the best place to put it...What do you guys think?

Above all, you should think about safety first.

oh god you are right, i smell gasoline
i also see some leaking on the pavement
should i remove the amp? the tank is not accessible very easily should I shoot some silicone or something to patch the hole?
that sucks one of my amps stoped working gd

Nice use of graemlins... LMAO

Bret... oh man, you put screws through your gas tank... lol...

Take the amps out... siphon/run the tank dry and remove it from underneath the car... use a repair kit from canadian tire to fill in the holes....

Be more carefull next time.. lol...

IMO, it's not that funny because imagine the guy's amps started sparking up and if they're near the gas tank <BOOM!!!!> and forget about the car; what's more important is there goes 4 perfectly good MTX 9500 series woofers

The Bret, you should take your front fuse out of your power wire, drain the tank like haunz said and remove the amps and gas tank so that you can repair it or have it repaired.

You might want to then find another place for your amps like...under the front seats?

Boh, I don't know but just be careful and ask before doing something you're not sure of, you could have blown yourself up!
