I have a few questions.

1. Why do people do this, any other reason besides looks?

2. How can one do this, does the wiring have to be different?

3. Is it worth it to invert a sub?

Thank you.

inverting a sub gains you a small amount of airspace, and looks cool (as long as it's not a cheap sub) no special wiring is needed really, but pretty wiring looks nicer when you can see it.

1. other than looks... not really
2. Same as usual... saves you needing a terminal cup too...
3. Depends if you like the look and can stand having the magnet stick out

I agree, it is just cosmetic, but Sassmaster has a point in that the box will have an effective volume which is larger by the volume of the sub. Also, don't forget to wire the sub oppositely since now the sub will move out in stead of in when voltage is applied across it.

When you design a box you take in consideration the volume displacement of the sub itself. This messurement is found in the Spec Sheet for the Sub. Depending on the vehicle and location of the box I would suggest tring it in phase then out of phase. Every application is different and a Box will sound different in different cars.

Hows about it will allow you to mount a sub where you could not before due to the mounting depth of the sub in the area where you want it to sit.

I think it sounds worst inverting the cone. You get the subwoofer's vent noise...like a root beer bottle.
