My SUb highly Recommends a sub sonic filter with the use of the box I'm using right now its ported, do you think maybe it won't matter as much because I'm only giving my SUb 1/2 the power its rated at?

Also someone else said something about a F-mod to plug the RCA's into that would work but I can't seem to find any of them.

 

The last amp I had didn't have a SSF and it was no big deal. Just don't play music that is too far below tuning and you'll be ok.

The setup I had for about 3 years never ran in to a single problem with not having one.

Giving a sub 1/2 it's power also helps your case....

 

Half power will really help your case. Be careful not to turn your gain up to high and feed it clipped signals and you should be good.

You would never hear it clip...

 

using the filter may clean up the sound a little bit, regardless of your subs power handling. if it isn't trying to play those extremely low frequencies, it won't have to work as hard to accurately produce those you do want to hear.
also by using it, you will increase your subs power handling capabilities...but at only 1/2 the rated power, you shouldn't have much of a problem anyways.

more subs are damaged by underpowering them than overpowering them.

in an underpowered setup, it is very easy to try and compensate for this and will result in an unclean signal being sent from your amp to sub/speakers. DO NOT send any signal to them if you amp has begun to clip.

...i think of it as a fast car. do you really need a car that can go 200km/hr? probably not. but its going to run a lot smoother and easier at 100km/hr, than the car with a top speed of 110. more power =better ...then again some may need that 200km/hr lol.



btw, if your amp is shutting down, it is most likely clipping. unless it can't breathe at all and is overheating

 

Thanks for all your help, when I say my amp shuts down I Mean the sub stops working till I turn the volume abit down.

 

How high do you have your gain and bass boost set to? Sounds like they may be a bit too high? Your amp is probably dropping into protection when you are playing it too loud. That's why the sub kicks off.

The gain is set to normal I thnkk 2 V or something like that and bass bost is off., yeah I think it is protection too the Sub sounds fine all the way up so I figure its just the amp is to weak but I don't need to play it that loud any ways.
