JBL Gti, IDMAX

i finally figured out what speakers im going to upgrade too so now im thinking about upgrading my sub currently i have a 12" L7 i was thinking of getting two 12" gti's or 12" IDMAX im looking for sql im leaning more towards the gtis because you can get them for nearly half the price as a IDMAX on the net but im not sure if my alpine pdx 1000.1 would be able to handle the ohm load from two of them it would have to be 1.5 or 6 ohms right and i dont know if the single amp would put out enough power for two 12's

the PDX amps in my experience are pretty sensitive to the load they see. If your going with a sealed box, I wouldn't imagine you'd have any issues with te impedance rise from the box anyways. Ported though, might cause the amp to go into protection, or pop.

by pop you mean like totally blow up? how much roughly does the ohm load change being in a ported/sealed box? i was thinking about running a sealed box anyway it will play the low bass better than a ported box unless i had it tuned in like the 20's hz range shouldnt it?

As in let the magic smoke out. Ported will generally play louder, lower than a sealed box if tuned below 35hz. Witht he cabin gain of cars though, sealed still offers plenty of low end.

I have 2x 10s 150rms in a sealed box and they will get stupid low and loud. 20hz feels like sitting on your girls vibrator. LOL They are only running off 380wrms too.

ugh not another one!!

the wattage ratigns of a sub has ZERO to do with how loud it gets or its performance.. hat rating is purely a measure of heat tolerance/dissipation. It's my personal mission to add understanding to how atings work and Debunk all the crap sales people out there push because most have little to no understanding as to what are talking about anyways.

2 10" gti's?
if you run a amp at a higher ohm load is there risk of damage like if i were to run two of them to be a 6 ohm load or will it just lower the amount of power they see? or is it best to just stay in the 2-4 ohm range?

amps love higher ohm loads.. makes them run cooler and relaxed. But less power output.

they are pretty effencient subs so i dont think it will be to bad also the power output is the same at 2 and 4 ohms think it would actually drop all the much by going up to 6 ohm?
