JL 12W3V3-2 question
#24
Haha, you guys are hilarious!
But yea, MTT makes sense. I'm gonna go with a Alpine Type-R.
Also, just from the size of the magnet on the W3, I can tell that it probably handles power thats closer to the Infinity References than the Alpine Type-R.
I'm picking it up tomorrow!
Can't wait!
Gonna put it in a sealed box that I have lying around and see how it sounds and go from there!
I got a question for you guys though!
Know anywhere in the GTA where I can buy speaker adapters?
I need to change my rears from 6x9s to 6.5s.
Thanks for all your help!
And hey MTT, you gonna be down here for the IASCA?

Hey guys!
Does anyone know what the RMS rating is for the JL 12W3V3-2?
Crutchfield lists it as 500W while online car stereo lists it as 300W.
I plan on driving it with a 600W amp so the difference is huge.
I thought overdriving a sub by a little bit was okay, but the JL website shows 600W as being in the warranty void zone.
EDIT: Or should I go with the Alpine Type-R SWR-1242? Thats rated at 500W.

If you know the 600W is in the danger zone, you could get 2 of the W3s, upgrade to a 12W6V3 or be careful with the system setup so you don't over-drive the sub.....JLs don't mind the extra power, it helps keep the signal nice and clean......just don't pound the snot out of it.......
