ive sold both, so i can tell you from a warranty standpoint, jls are way more fragile than the kicker, and i would like to disagree with most of the people that have replied, the cvr from kicker when put in the right setup are very musical

sub

if you want QUALITY go for JL audio
...... LOUDNESS go for MTX
...... price go for KICKER
just so confuse why some compare L7 to WO for its like comparing FERRARI to PONTIAC,be more realistic,if you want to compare,go for class to class. .......say L7 to W7

With an comment like that, I suppose there's no point in asking if you've ever listened to a properly installed JL W6

I'm with everyone who said look into DD.
But I've seen W0s take 3 times their rated power daily (3-15s on a single PPI 2350) with no problem for years. If you're dead-set on Kicker or JL, I'd recommend one of their better lines (L5/L7/W3 etc).

First of all, the L5 isn't the same as the L7 so don't even try that crap, I worked in a shop that sold Kicker and there's no comparison. and as far as I'm concerned, the L7 has NOTHING on the original SoloBarics except output, they don't sound half as good and the CVR is about 100 times more dynamic than the L5.

Not to mention the L5 came out like 6 months after the original L7 so how could it be the same thing? Yea, there gonna sell an L7 labelled as an L5 for like 200 bucks cheaper than the L7....yea, time wake up now.

I'm partial to Kicker but I agree, you've never heard a W6 properly installed.

Even the W3's aren't too bad, but I found they like to bottom out with around 4-500WRMS.

If you've worked in a shop that carries Kicker you should know that the original L5 was basically the original L7. The L7 indeed came out first and then Kicker decided they could do better with the design so they rebadged the original black cone L7 as the following years L5 and then made an upgraded version and called it the L7.

MTX, JL, Kicker have all made some great drivers over the years and each make a quality driver that can suit most daily drivers needs. You just need to pick the correct one.
All three companies make a good low-budget driver that performs quite well.

When the L5 came out, did it not have lower ratings than the L7?

Also, if I remember correctly, was it not also designed to work in a smaller box than the L7?

I could be totally off, but I'm pretty sure that's correct, of course my memory, she doesn't work so good.

Regardless, everything aside, Kicker IMO is MUCH better value than JL.

I'd go for the JL, since I'm confident that it works.
