kac-9152d cutting out when turned up?

.. Yeah.. that's the amp going in to protect even if it doesn't have the protect light. You're starving the amplifier of power. Do the big 3 upgrade and if that doesn't help upgrade your alternator, or have it rewound for a higher output. Only solution.
Or band-aid it with a Batcap if you're feeling lazy and want to get stuck somewhere with a blown-out alternator.
My two cents.
Edit: I would like to add a cliffnote to my post, When you say no protect light I am assuming that there is physically a complete lack of a protection light to show you whether or not the amplifier is going in to protect. If there *IS* a protect light and it's not coming on then the issue is somewhere else in your system.

how do i go about testing the voltage? i checked it at the amp not running and i had 12.60 volts
i tried turning the gain down on the amp and the remote and seems to be doing the same thing. seems though i can turn it up a few more clicks though as compared to before though. but still will cut out when turned up

Turn vehicle on, turn system up to the point where it starts turning off, put test leads on your factory location battery and see what your voltage looks like when the system cuts out, I'm willing to bet you're dipping below 12 and that is the cause of your issue.

If your voltage is staying above 13.5ish then there's three plausible things that come to mind for me and that's
A) A loose connection that is being rattled by the bass, I know I've been redundant on this but you really need to check both ends of everything and then check them again, wiggle them if you have to, it could be a bad set of RCA's even.
B) A Bad Ground Connection - Try taking your ground off, cleaning any grime or paint left and applying some dielectric grease
C) A piece of equipment is going bad. Most likely the amplifier. If A or B don't solve your issue then I'm going to say start with that for testing.
