Kenwood eXcelon HU or other?

I'm in the market for a new HU , and I would like to get a single din HU since I cant exactly fit an indash or double din in my honda accord lower cubby hole.

So I was looking at the Kenwood KIV-700 or even the Kenwood KDC-X794

Anythoughts on these decks or kenwood products in general?

Or is there something you would recommend ? Another brand or model and why?
There are so many HU's on the market, its hard to find good reviews on each unit. So any help is appreciated.

thanks guys

also one is a 2v preout while the other is a 4v preout, is this a huge deal when it comes to sound quality?

On the Kenwood website it has both listed as 3 sets of 4V preouts at 600ohms. When are you looking to buy these? Do you have a need for a CD player?

I've got an Alpine HU with no CD player and I haven't looked back so for my wife's car I've just bought a KIV-900BT. For the price and features it has nothing else could compare. It has shipped and I'll be picking it up tomorrow afternoon. I'm about half way through her install so if you haven't bought anything by the end of the weekend I'll let you know what I think of this thing. I'll be using it to feed a four channel amp (used as a 3 channel)with 2 JL Audio 8" subs and Eclipse sc8365 3-ways for the front stage.

Yeah I got the info mixed up, they are both 4v preouts,
The KDC-x794 is part of the eXcelon series while the other isnt. The other is a bit more visually appealing.

As for a cd player, no I rarely touch mine now.

And it would be GREAT if you can give me a review on the BT900, since the KIV-700 is a step down from that.
Im planning on running an amp to power a set of components which I will be purchasing at the same time also. Hopefully its a good deck since Im going from an 8year old panasonic deck with oem front speakers to a newer deck with components powered by an amp along with some dynamat for that extra little bit of sound.

I think you'll be very happy. But what about your low end, any plans for a sub? What kind of car are you putting this in?

I'll keep you posted.

Never mind about the sub and car questions. I just read your other thread, I see you are well on your way.

Hey K24, I finally got the KIV-BT900 install finished at 11:45 last night. I messed around with it for about 1/2 hr last night and another 1/2 hr before work this morning. So far I'm quite impressed by it. The upgraded display over the KCE-X994 is well worth it. I've just set up the time alignment and cross over points, I haven't played with the 5 band eq yet. It has great X-over adjustments (6, 12, 18 & 24 db/oct slopes). If you need bluetooth the this is a good unit that can be had for $240 shipped. The KIV-700 seems to be going for $200 Shipped, I think the $40 for BT is a good deal. Sound quality seems to be excellent but I don't think that's a fair statement as alot of that has to do with the 3way eclipse, JL subs and US Acoustic amp I installed with it.

I would Highly recommend this deck for a daily media player with some substantial audio features.

Let me know if there's any more you want to know about it.
