Kenwood Excelon vs standard series? (Head Units)

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the difference is from the excelon series and the standard series besides the obvious difference in specs?

For example: The difference between the KDC-X693 and the KDC-MP642U.

I know the excelon has 4v preouts (vs 2.5v), 2 year warranty (vs 1 year), 5-band eq (vs 3-band), and can change the light colors but is there any internal differences that will effect the sound quality? I noticed the Excelon has a cd signal-to-noise ratio of 110 where the KDC-MP642U has 105 and that has me thinking what else is different on the inside?

I am trying to decide if the Excelon KDC-X693 is worth an extra $80.

It also has a multi bit d/a convertor vs. single bit d/a convertor. It is indeed worth the extra $. What kind of price have you got on it?

Single bit D/A Convertor?? On the kenwood website they both say 24 bit D/A Converter. Am I missing something here?

I can get the KDC-MP642U for $190 and the KDC-X693 for $270... You are in fact the guy who gave me that price I think....

I really want to go with the KDC-X693 but cash is a little tight ATM especially with all the Christmas shopping and extra expenses that go along with this time of year. I don't suppose your store will be having a boxing day sale or anything would it? Although, $270 is already quite a bit off the tag price....

It is a good deal on that cd player. Chances are I am indeed the nice guy that gave you the price on it. Tell you what, as boxing day is coming indeed (but that is the day that most stores dump repaired and discontinued items that this one is not), I will do $250.00 + taxes for you.

Hey that sounds great! Thank you very much!

Are you guys open tomorrow? If so can I come pick it up then or would boxing day be better?

Thanks again! I'll be sure to recommend you to all my friends. I still can't believe I have lived here all my life and have never been in your store until the other day I was there.

Store is open at 10. I am doing a rescue mission to Nanaimo for a customer this morning. I might be back by the time the shop opens.

Deffinatly go excelon. I love my kenwood deck and wouldn't change it for anything... except a higher model...
