Hey all.. I have an MPV-622 by Kenwood that while is supposed to be able to play MP3's, does not. It is however, able to play regular cd's. When I put an MP3 cd in it acknowledges there is a cd in it, but it doesn't produce any sound. I can't scan to the next track or anything. I thought the issue may be that the cd in question may be scratched, so I created a new one - same thing happens.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I have no experience with Kenwood decks but many decks such as Alpine have a selector in the menu to state what type of material you intend on using.
Whether it be just CD/CD-R etc or CD/CD-R/MP3.
Check your manual.

Thanks for the response...
I have the manual in front of me and there's nothing in it at all about selecting the type of CD media. All I know is when I bought it, all I did was to put the CD in and it played. I'll check around to see if I still have the recipt (it was bought at Best Buy in Ajax).

are you sure your burning your cd in a proper format
as in mp3 as apposed to data
and the cd was finalized as well
it should play the same as a cd

That's a good point... now that I think about it, I've been creating 'data' not 'MP3' cds... I'll create an MP3 one and see how that goes - I'll let you know. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok.. I've just created an MP3 cd and tried to play it - no luck. Just like before, I'm able to play regular cd's still.

Can you recommend / suggest anything else?

try a diff burning program or even slowing your burning speed to improve buffering... if that dosent work try a a disk made on a different computer...

Hey there Haunz...
I tried that and the same thing occurs - I can play regular CD's, but I get nothing when I play an MP3 CD. I should note the deck recognizes that there is a CD in it, it just doesn't play it.

Is there a code or something that needs to be re-activated?

Something just occured to me, a couple of weeks ago my battery died to the point where I was forced to get a new one. Could this have something to do with the problem?

Thanks again!

did you burn the data cd in ISO format, with the option for "no multisession" selected as well as finalizing the disk?

I have the 522 and no problems with mp3 cd's. I always use CD-RW's.
